A group of fans recently came to Fratton Park to reminisce watching Pompey in decades gone past from the 'Boilermakers' Hump' section of the ground.

Long before the advent of all-seater stadiums - and prior to the control box occupying the divide between North Stand and Milton End - the appearance of Fratton Park was far removed from today.

The hump was so-called as it was typically the area of the ground where the city's dockyard steam workers would congregate on match-days.

As explained in the video, boilermakers had a reputation for poor personal hygiene and consequently segregated themselves away in the 'boilermakers'' section of the ground.
